Day 4: Tuesday, November 30, 2010 - The Giver of Gifts

God heals Jeroboams hand and the gentleman has the gall to simply change tactics. Why is this? I’d argue the Bible says in many places that a sinful generation like ours always asks for signs, and then we simply ignore them.

Jeroboam then attempts to buy the Prophet’s allegiance, with food, drink and a reward. This all happens right in front of the people, and it’s not looking good for Jeroboam.

God however owns the Prophet, just as He owns every single Christ Follower. If you still claim to have a hold on “your life”, if you still have “your plans” then you’re still in control and God is not. That’s not to say that you won’t be bale to do things it’s just that those things will be in line with God’s leading through the Holy Spirit.

Remember the gift of God is eternal life; we are given that at the moment of conversion through the Holy Spirit. The one who gives the gift owns the one who has received the gift, since we are owned by our Creator and God we are no longer our own.

The Prophet refused Jeroboam, just as we should refuse anyone who tells us any different than what we are being told by the Holy Spirit.
