Commentary on "Corporate Evangelism and Witnessing"
Day 5: Wednesday, May 16, 2012 - Every Part Does Its Share
Today's lesson teaches the following techniques will produce a blessing on your evangelistic plan:
Those techniques reflect a rather "me" focused philosophy regarding evangelistic success. While 1 Corinthians 3 does teach we each play a part in the planting and watering, it also makes it clear that neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything. God alone is responsible for growth.
Romans 1:16-17 teaches it is the power of God through the gospel that brings salvation to everyone. Even so, many turned their backs on Jesus Himself, who was doing everything right, including teaching the truth, the whole truth and NOTHING but the truth. How much less effective will our human efforts be towards evangelism, if the gospel being presented is not the pure unadulterated gospel as Jesus taught it?
If we truly want our efforts to be blessed we better make sure the gospel we preach has not been altered, weakened, or added to in any way what-so-ever! Only the true gospel holds any power to attract and radically change lives.
At the heart of Adventism lies, another gospel. A gospel that requires sabbath keeping as the ultimate test of loyalty so God can determine who His true believers really are.
Of course the church should be unified and function together. But that is no guarantee of a successful evangelistic effort. God alone causes growth through the power of the gospel!
