CHERYL GRANGER

Day 5: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 - Reporting and Motivation

OK..today the author uses the account of the 12 men sent to explore Canaan in Numbers 13 to continue reinforcing the idea of filling out those reports! He asks why Caleb and Joshua responded as they did. Well, it's pretty obvious that they believed what the Lord said in Numbers 13:1: He was giving them the land. In 14:8, these two men use phrases that confirm this: "...He will lead us into that land..." and "...will give it to us."

In the third paragraph the author states "As we formulate reports , we must do so with thought to the revealed will of God" ..." and "We will not just report on how well we are doing but how well we are doing the will of God." At the end of this paragraph he mentions again "...seeking God's will for our church."

I want to point out, in love, that the church he is speaking to and about is one that was birthed in the anti-Scriptural belief of date-setting. (Matt. 24:36)

I want to point out that, when the date-setting failed, a new belief in an Investigative Judgement, (of only believers BTW), came about. This doctrine is also anti-Scriptural unless we believe Jesus was lying when He said, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent Me HAS eternal life and WILL NOT be condemned; he has passed from death to life." John 5:24. If He "knows His sheep", why does He need to investigate them? The book of Hebrews absolutely refutes that Christ went into the Most Holy Place in 1844...""After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." Heb. 1:3b. If this was written in the past tense in most likely the late AD 60's it had already happened. You CANNOT make the book of Hebrews support an IJ no matter what.

Is Adventism in God's will?

"And this is the testimony: God HAS GIVEN us eternal life and this life is in His Son" and "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life." 1 John 5: 11 & 13.

Do you believe the inspired words of the same John that wrote Revelation—the same John who watched Jesus die and walked and talked with Him after the resurrection?

Today's lesson statistics:

SOURCE OF POWER FOR SUCCESSFUL WITNESSING AND CHURCH GROWTH

REPORTING: MENTIONED 14 TIMES

RELYING ON THE HOLY SPIRIT: NOT MENTIONED

Afterthought

I would like to add two paragraphs, the first from Testimonies, vol. 9, pg. 19 and the second from The Desire of Ages, pg. 822. They are used in a publication from the GC Sabbath School & Personal Ministries website ("Keys to Motivating Members to Witness") I figure that they also apply to motivating SDA members to fill out their reports.

"In a special sense Seventh-day Adventists have been set in the world as watchmen and light bearers. To them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world. On them is shining wonderful light from the word of God. They have been given a work of the most solemn import--the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels' messages. THERE IS NO OTHER WORK OF SO GREAT IMPORTANCE."

"The work of God in this earth can NEVER be finished until the men and women compromising OUR church membership rally to the work, and unite their efforts with those of ministers and church officers."
