Day 5: Wednesday, March 14, 2012 - God as Author
The author here explores God and His authorship of the Scriptures. She writes “As Christians, we have the blessing not only of enjoying the literary beauty of the Scriptures but of learning the truths about God as revealed in the Bible.”

Questions to consider
- Have you ever read the Bible as literature, taking into consideration the genre, purpose, and historical context of the words?
- If you’ve grown up in Adventism, where Bible verses (proof-texts) are used to prove and support a doctrinal point, with no regard to context or intended meaning, I invite you to read a whole book of the Bible, as literature. Put yourself in the story, see God at work, get absorbed in the narrative, or the poetry or the letter. And then ask yourself these questions: In light of the Cross and what Jesus has accomplished on my behalf, what application is there to my life? What did I learn about God through this book?
