Commentary on "The Sin of Moses and Aaron"
Day 7: Friday, November 27, 2009
Overview
This talks about Nicodemus and his lack of understanding regarding the “new birth”. It explains how our salvation relies on a supernatural act, just as the Israelites lives depended on the bronze serpent—another supernatural act. Apart from God, we perish—how should this keep us humble? It continues to recap the story of the fiery serpents and the close of their 40 years of wanderings.
Observations
The problem here is that there is no scripture mentioned—only Ellen G. White quotes. This is disturbing. The story of Nicodemus is in John 3:1-21, and does a great job all on its own, without Mrs. White’s “help”.
The discussion questions related to the plan of salvation are good, for we are helpless without God. Our eternal life depends solely on Christ and our willingness to accept it.
