Commentary on "From Complaints to Apostasy"

Day 7: Friday, October 30, 2009

As is typical for the Sabbath School Quarterly, Friday’s lesson is usually a suggestion to read from the writings of Ellen White.

We suggest the following:

  1. Read the passages from Numbers 11-14 once again.
  2. Identify passages from the New Testament that refer to the Israelites wandering in the wilderness, the desire to return to Egypt and how the Holy Spirit directed the New Testament writers to use these passages to edify his body. Use any good concordance, or even an internet resource, to find these passages in the Bible.
  3. Pray to the Lord for proper understanding of these passages as they were originally intended when written.
  4. Pray for the Lord to open your eyes to the controversy that is going on between your spirit and flesh, and ask for the Spirit to purge these desires from your hearts and minds.
  5. Always finish your study by praising God for his cleansing you of all your sins by the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross to purchase you for God.
  6. The Bible is not just a “greater light.” The Bible is the very Word of God. We must use it as such.
  7. Praise the Lord for his learning and leading in your life.
